Specialized Allez Sport

Next up, a cracking Specialized Bicycles Allez Sport. An Interim Service, a drivetrain clean, the headset stripped and re-lubed and both brake calipers cleaned and lubed. The bike successfully completed the Tour de Lauder last weekend (well done to its rider…the conditions sounded challenging to say the least), although it did suffer two broken spokes so will need more work in the coming week.

Be-One

Silly busy at Andy’s Bike Clinic at the moment…hence the updates haven’t been as numerous I would have liked. Anyway, what’s been happening (apart from the changeable Scottish weather?) First up we have a Be-One Spirit which was in for its Annual Service. Like a lot of other bikes with disc brakes, this one needed replacement front pads as well as the existing items had been coated in contaminants (undoubtedly picked up from the road where oil etc gets thrown up).

Specialized Secteur

Another Specialized…this time a Specialized Secteur. Shimano Road Sora 2×9, SRAM road Avid BB5 mechanical disc brakes and Axis wheelset. An Interim Service, supplemented by a drivetrain clean, rear gear cable renewal and a tweak to the rear hub. Ready to fly again.

Specialized Crux Elite

Now on to a Specialized Bicycles Crux Elite. Part cyclocross monster, part road bike, some say this is the only type of bike you’ll ever need. SRAM road Apex groupset with FSA Gossamer crankset and SRAM road Avid BB5 mechanical disc brakes, this is one sorted machine. An Interim Service, and a decontaminated pads and rotor and it was back with its owner (and now up for sale!)

Giant Revel

Next up there’s a Giant Bicycles Revel that needed an Annual Service and a replacement front inner tube. If you use your bike on a regular basis, the Annual Service is a great way of keeping your bike running in tip-top condition throughout the year. Perfect for those riders who don’t ride everyday, but probably ride a couple of times a week. This Giant flew through its service with no advisories!

Norco Valence

Time for a quick catch-up at what’s been through the doors of Andy’s Bike Clinic over the last week or so. First off, we have a lovely Norco Valence. Shimano Road Sora 2×9 with SRAM road Tektro brakes and an FSA crankset, this bike received an Interim Service along with a new KMC Chain USA 9 speed chain. Beautifully balanced bike.

Cannondale Quick

Finally we have a Cannondale Bicycles Quick which was in need of a service. Lightly used, but stored in a damp garage over the winter meant the gears and brakes were out. The chain had also rusted quite badly. So, the chain was broken, degreased, cleaned, re-fitted and lubed. The rest of the bike was treated to an Intermediate Service meaning its ready for the impending Spring sunshine we all deserve!

GT II Grade

Next up a Gt Bikes II Grade which sports a very natty 2×11 setup and full Shimano Cycling hydraulic brakes. Nice. It needed a bit of TLC though, and a fair bit of expenditure; replacement Shimano Road chain, Shimano Road cassette and a FSA big chain ring (Ouch!) Topped off with a trued rear wheel and an Intermediate Service to ensure everything was working as it should, it was back to mile-munching between East Lothian and Edinburgh.
